Our Vision for Design and Technology
"At King Charles, we believe Design Technology gives children the opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and understanding of designing and making functional products. We feel it is important to nurture creativity and innovation through design to create lifelong learners, who are prepared for the jobs of the future."
SEND
In the majority of cases, SEND children access the learning with the main class. To support their written work, scaffolds are created for these children with an emphasis on the children using drawing to show their ideas. For example, the steps of the method could be drawn with labels instead of writing. Photos can also be used to show the children at different stages of the design and making process, as well as the final product. Support will also be provided during the practical elements of the lessons so the children are still able to learn the skills they require to be successful.
