"At King Charles, we believe that History is a fundamental subject in providing every child with a diverse historical knowledge of local, British and World History. We aim to develop inquisitive historical thinkers and build a strong sense of chronology including modern and ancient history. We will produce learners who are confident to discuss and explain historical events that they have studied; drawing on facts and critical thinking skills."
SEND
Teachers set high expectations and provide quality first teaching for every pupil. Lesson planning is inclusive of all abilities. The structure of all lessons enables teachers to chunk learning allowing children to attempt tasks before applying learning; ‘I do, We do, You do’ approach. Adaptations are provided to support SEND pupils where necessary and opportunities to keep up in learning are provided where needed. Scaffolded sheets are used to support SEND pupils and teaching assistants provide support for children with EHCPs. Teachers liaise with the SEND team for additional support and guidance where required. Mixed ability talk partners are also used in History lessons to encourage peer support. EAL pupils are supported with their development of new vocabulary through the provision of knowledge notes for each lesson which clearly display new vocabulary with visuals.
