Personal Development 2023-2024
Scroll down to see photos of the exciting things we have done at KC this year!
Remembrance Day
We have been demonstrating our school value of ‘Gratitude,’ by showing our respect and thanks for those who have lost their lives in our armed forces. We held two assemblies, which were driven through the book ‘Where the Poppies Now Grow’ by Hilary Robinson. We also held a two minutes silence at 11am today to show our gratitude to the fallen. Our sewing club created this beautiful poppy wreath
Disability Affirmation Week
During Disability Affirmation Week, we learnt about and celebrated different disabilities. We had an assembly from Oliver Johnson, from Lindens Outreach, and Mrs Millward to talk about their disabilities. Children who were confident to speak to their classes, also shared their own disabilities - ‘I have ADHD and it means that I am really kind and funny and I can run really fast!’ (Year 3 child).
Deloitte Chocolate Trading Game
Year 6 were invited to Deloitte's offices in Birmingham to take part in their 'Chocolate Trading Game'. We worked in teams with employees from Deloitte to learn about trading. We started with £1000 and ten gold coins and after reading scenarios we had to decide if we would buy or sell more gold coins. It was a great day and the winning team accumulated 28 coins!
We all enjoyed experiencing a day of 'working' in Birmingham at Deloitte's offices. Lots of children said that they would like to work in the financial sector when they got older.
Young Voices
Our fantastic choir performed at The Resorts World Arena along with 5258 other children from around The Midlands in The Young Voices Concert 2024.
It was an amazing event which was enjoyed by the staff, children, parents and carers and the rest of the 15,000 capacity crowd!
Number Day February 2024
World Book Day
We had a fantastic World Book Day at King Charles!
Our children enjoyed a wide range of learning opportunities including reading to younger children, creating bedrooms for their favourite book characters, hosting book clubs as well as enjoying a bedtime story in their comfy PJ’s with their favourite cuddly toy. We look forward to showcasing all of the work produced from this year’s World Book Day which really does show how much love reading at King Charles!

HSBC
HSBC staff come into KC each year to talk to the children about all aspects of financial management. The children enjoy the sessions and learn so much! On Monday 24th June HSBC staff came back in for our assembly and did a money quiz with Years 3-6 to find out just what the children could remember! We were all really impressed with their answers which included topics such as denominations of coins, mental maths, budgeting and preventing fraud. We were proud to be awarded a Smart Money Award recognising how we support our pupils financial education.
Digital Leaders at Walsall Online Safety Leaders Conference June 2024
Our Y6 digital leaders represented King Charles at the Walsall Online Safety Leaders Conference. Our pupils were excellent ambassadors for KC and really showcased the quality of our innovative use of technology which equip our children for the ever changing future!
Manchester Bee Memorial
King Charles Primary School proudly hosted the Manchester Bee Monument on the 10th July. This iconic symbol of resilience and unity was displayed for all our students to see, sparking meaningful conversations and creative activities throughout the day. The visit provided a unique opportunity for our children to consider how they stay safe in our local community. We are grateful for the chance to share this powerful emblem with our school community, inspiring our students with the values of strength and solidarity.
Pirates of the Curry Bean
Our Year 6 children excelled themselves in their end of year performance of Pirates of the Curry Bean! We have some amazingly talented actors and singers at KC! The show was performed to packed out audiences on Monday and Tuesday and it was enjoyed by all!
Here is an example of some parent feedback after the show........
"I would like to praise all the hard work and dedication that the staff put into the production. It really showed how hard the children worked to pull off the most spectacular show. It really was amazing and such a credit to the school as to how hard you all work. I am immensely proud of the children for such and amazing performance. I cannot believe it was a primary school production it was amazing. Well done to all and thank you so much for taking the time to put it all together."
"Well and truly exceeded my expectations"
Live Music Event
Walsall Music Education Hub joined us on the last day of the Summer Term to perform live music through the decades from the 1940s until the present day. We really enjoyed learning about the different genres of music and a little bit about the musicians who made the songs famous: Glenn Miller, Quincy Jones, Abba, Queen, Bob Marley, Robbie Williams, Taylor Swift and more! Of course we couldn't help but join in! What a wonderful way to celebrate the end of term!
